Peace, Be Still

AveI’ve been seeing some real fear play out online as we watch election results come in. This has been a long year, hasn’t it? So many fears piling up... maybe you’re afraid of COVID. Maybe you’re fearful as you watch your financial safety net crumble away. Maybe you’re fearful of government control. Uncertainties can pile up, we start to believe the false narratives running through our minds, and we can find ourselves crying out, “Master, we are perishing!” In Mark’s account the disciples actually say, “Don’t you care?”

God doesn’t promise us an easy life. He doesn’t promise us safety or health or a government friendly to Christianity. But that is not where our hope rests.

He is on the throne. He is the same yesterday today and forever. Is it right to grieve over wrongs we see in our nation? Absolutely. Is it right to see cultural movements as truthfully disturbing? Absolutely. But He is not sleeping. He is able. He is trustworthy.

Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this.

Ecclesiastes 7:10

My HOPE is built on NOTHING LESS than JESUS’ BLOOD and RIGHTEOUSNESS. Even the wind and the waves obey Him. Peace, be still.
